Dr. Jane Wanja Ireri is an accomplished academic leader and applied mathematics scholar with over 15 years of experience in higher education. She serves as the Dean, School of Science, Engineering and Health at Daystar University, providing strategic leadership in curriculum innovation, faculty development, quality assurance, and STEM advancement.
She holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, an MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, and a BSc in Mathematics with Computer Science from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. Her research focuses on chemostat modeling, nutrient conversion, and bifurcation analysis, with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Ireri has held progressive leadership roles including Head of Department, Quality Assurance Officer, Examinations Officer, and Pre-University Coordinator. She has lectured at Daystar University, Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology, the University of Eastern Africa Baraton, and the Technical University of Kenya.
Her excellence in teaching and mentorship has earned her awards such as Daystar University’s Best Lecturer (2015) and Kiriri University’s Best Lecturer in Science (2012). She is an active member of MAK, KWIMSA, and the Eastern Africa Network for Women in Basic Sciences.
Grounded in Christian values and servant leadership, Dr. Ireri is dedicated to shaping holistic, industry-ready graduates, strengthening university–industry collaboration, and driving innovation that transforms communities.
Current Projects
• Erasmus-Funded FOSTER Project:
Advancing digital transformation and Open Science in East Africa through institutional engagement, Open Access exploration, and capacity-building workshops.
• CBE & PBL Faculty Training:
The programme builds faculty competence in modern CBE and PBL pedagogy. Graduates become Trainers of Trainers (TOTs), strengthening internal capacity and advancing the University’s leadership in Competence-Based Education.
• 2025–2026 DIES NMT Programme:
A DAAD–HRK–supported initiative building the capacity of university managers to lead sustainable, digitally driven higher education systems in Kenya.
