About

A well-rounded communication and management specialist with over 30 years’ work experience in corporate communication, public relations, policy advocacy and managing stakeholder dialogues with diverse audiences both in public and private sectors. Damaris has a wealth of experience working to support private sector, public sector and civil society organizations in the design and implementation of communication strategies, information dissemination campaigns, field research, project evaluations, and training among others. Between 2003-2012, she headed Corporate Affairs and Advocacy Communication at the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, a leading Business Membership Organization where she was responsible for dissemination of policy research findings and the management of reputable and mutually beneficial relations between private sector and government agencies, development sector organizations, NGOs and academia. In 1993-2002, Damaris worked in the higher education sector through Daystar University and was part of the Universities/Private Sector Linkages Committee of the Commission for Higher Education (now CUE), that established the Higher Education Expo. Damaris has a broad-based technical skill set in research, writing, editing and developing multi-sectoral advocacy, development and production of IEC materials; public relations; media relations, event planning and management; curriculum development, training and workshop facilitation; strategy development; organizational development and re-modelling; project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation; resource mobilization; operations and Human Resource Management. She is Computer Proficient in Windows Suite (MS Word, Excel, Access), Desktop Publishing, Creative Design, and Online Media (Web Design and Social Media). She is also well versed with the dynamics of content development, knowledge management and media relations with local, regional and international media in support of corporate and project communication.
