Israeli Ambassador Visits Daystar University

The Vice-chancellor, Prof Laban Ayiro presents his book, the Art of Institutional Leadership  to Israeli Ambassador durign his visit to  his office in Athi River Campus

[Thursday, May 16, 2024] The Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Michael Lotem visited Daystar University on a courtesy call to the Vice-chancellor. He was accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Ms. Dvora Yarkoni.

The Ambassador was received by the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, the Dean, School of Science, Engineering & Health (SSEH), Prof. Martha Kiarie, the Director, Resource Mobilization Ms. Jacqueline Mathaga, the Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. Damaris Kimilu, and Security Coordinator, Mr. Chris Wekesa.

Key issues discussed during the meeting included possible mutual cooperation between Daystar University and Israel around the expansion of agriculture, climate change and environmental conservation through tree planting, water and waste management, and student exchange programs.

Prof. Ayiro highlighted the recent Cyber Security Project under the School of Science, Engineering and Health, saying that he wished for more such collaborations with Israeli organizations.

Also present was the Chair Cyberpro Global Limited of Mr. Emuna Noah and his team. A Kenyan firm with roots in Israel, Cyberpro Global recently established an IT academy at Daystar University Main Campus Athi River, in collaboration with the School of Science, Engineering and Health, Department of Computer Science. The Cyberpro Academy is a state-of-the-art IT laboratory that will train students and faculty from IT and non-IT backgrounds in the areas of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence. The First Cohort of 24 students has already registered and classes are scheduled to start soon.

After the meeting, the Ambassador planted a tree at the DUSA Park.
